TriGranit's flagship project in Croatia ARENA CENTAR Works On Track, Novelties Introduced To Building Industry

Arena Centar, TriGranit’s shopping-entertainment centre currently being built in Zagreb’s Lanište district next to the multifunctional Arena Zagreb, is receiving its contours with works on schedule. Since the start of construction in July this year and by the end of October, 25% percent of the entire works have been completed. Arena Centar, representing the only larger shopping centre to open its doors to visitors in Croatia in 2010, is valued at 244 million euro, covers 175,000 square metres and will offer 60,000 square metres of retail space.

Given the speed of works, which are being undertaken by a consortium of Croatian companies led by Mucić & Co., it is expected that 60% of major construction works and 35% of major installation works will be completed by the end of this year. Works are being undertaken in two shifts, with 650 Croatian workers currently engaged - 450 on site, 150 producing beams and slabs and 50 on the production of ventilation channels.

"We are satisfied with the progress of works to date and very pleased with the novelties that Mucić & Co. has introduced to the industry by way of the Arena Centar project, particularly in work dynamics. Namely, pre-fabricated RC structures, i.e. beams and the seldom used hollow slabs, are being delivered overnight and installed directly from the lorries in the exact planned position. Also, installations are being immediately fitted as soon as wall and ceiling structures are in place," said Leo Penović, TriGranit’s Project Manager.

Arena Centar will comprise of: 10 large anchor stores and 200 small to medium-sized stores – which will include a large number of new fashion brands; a Spar hypermarket on 10,000 square metres; a CineStar multiplex cinema with 9 screens; and many other entertainment and gastronomic content. Visitors will have at their disposal 3,500 parking spots, of which 3,000 will be located in the one-level underground garage. A novelty that TriGranit is introducing is the fact that Arena Centar will be adapted for persons with special needs.
