PATRIZIA creates a visual highlight with winter façade illumination at the “Altmarktkarree" in Dresden

PATRoffice Real Estate GmbH & Co. KG (PATRoffice), the co-investment of PATRIZIA Immobilien AG with two international institutional investors, has again installed its innovative property illumination concept on the façade of its building ensemble “Altmarktkarree” in November, as it did the previous year. Using state-of-the-art, energy-efficient LED technology, a winter scene with a very natural appearance was captured, visualizing ice crystals, ice flowers, and snowballs. “Due to its prominent city-center location, the whole Altmarkt area has long been a favorite place to go for the people of Dresden – especially at Christmas time with the Striezelmarkt and the seasonally decorated rows of houses all around”, said Andreas Friedrich, fund manager of PATRoffice. “With the use of lighting on our buildings, we not only allow for and complete this picture, but also create a unique conceptual and visual highlight in this location.”

On around 260 meters of external façade, almost 70,000 bulbs were mounted on the buildings at Altmarkt 21 to 24 as well as Dr.-Külz-Ring 9 to 13. The LED emitters used are the ideal color match for the visual realization of the white winter illumination with its ice and snow formations. “We decided on LEDs for visual as well as technical and energy reasons”, said Helmut Asam, center manager of the “Altmarktkarree” from PATRIZIA Immobilienmanagement. “These use in total only one-eighth of the power that normal bulbs require, and in addition have a lifespan eight times longer”. As the winter illumination concept at the “Altmarktkarree” is independent of the Christmas season, it is likely to remain on the buildings of the “Altmarktkarree” until the end of January. How well the concept is received at this Dresden location is shown by a letter of the “Association of Striezelmarkt Exhibitors”, in which they officially thank PATRIZIA for the decorative and harmonious concept at the traditional Christmas market.

PATRIZIA would also like to extend its thanks to the numerous customers of the “Altmarktkarree” in 2009. For this reason, a big Advent calendar distribution event will take place on November 27 and 28 in the “Altmarktkarree”. A total of 3,000 high-quality calendars featuring a picture of the festive decorated building ensemble will be given by PATRIZIA to visitors at the shopping center on this day.
