Cofinimmo obtains environmental certification for 3 office buildings

Cofinimmo announces having obtained the ISO 14001 certification of its Environmental Management System for its buildings Souverain 36, Montoyer 40 and Woluwe 58 (administrative office of the company).

As leading company on the Belgian real estate market preoccupied by the potential impact of its activities on the environment in the broad sense, Cofinimmo is committed to developing and managing its property portfolio with respect for the environment and natural resources. For this purpose, an Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with ISO 14001:2004 standard was established.

This worldwide recognized standard in the field of environmental management, aims for optimal management and control of the environmental impact which business activities may have. It certifies more particularly the company’s environmental policy, its organizational procedures and priorities, the continuous improvement of its activities, staff training, internal audits, external and internal communication.

Cofinimmo, who manages its properties in-house since 1999, applied for the ISO 14001 certification of its offices EMS. In a first step, this EMS has been implemented in the three buildings for which the company has obtained the certification. The intention is to roll out this accreditation to other properties in the portfolio.

The certification is delivered by Veritas, an independent certification authority and international leader in the field of certification. On the Belgian market, Cofinimmo is the first real estate company to have undertaken the environmental ISO 14001 process and to obtain the certification. It confirms its ambition to reduce its environmental footprint but also to manage its properties rigorously.
