Atisreal uk : Manchester Letting
The Business Space division of the Atisreal office in Manchester has recently completed a deal to let 8,000 sq ft of retail space to Scottish based Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative at Phase 2 of the Wilmslow Park student accommodation development in Victoria Park, just on the outskirts of Manchester City centre.
Atisreal has undertaken the instruction on behalf of Opal Property Group which is headquartered in Manchester and is the UK’s largest private developer, owner and operator of student accommodation with which they have an exclusive contract to dispose of surplus space within Opal Property Group’s growing commercial property portfolio.
Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative first opened in 1977 and is Scotland’s longest established workers’ co-op. Since then they have expanded in to the North of England and the opening of the new store in Manchester will provide them with their 5 th outlet. The Cooperative stocks an extensive range of bikes and cycle clothing and has its own brand, Edinburgh Bicycles. Promoting cycling as a method of transportation as well as enjoyable pastime is an integral part of the companies’ ethos.
Wilmslow Park, which is home to 1,300 students, is situated within close proximity of Manchester’s universities and the city centre and the Cooperative is hoping to capitalise on the needs of its neighbours. Alan Nestor of EBC says “We realise that most students have limited funds and can’t always incur the costs of cars and public transport. We hope to provide a solution that is economically and environmentally friendly with the added advantage of being good for your health!”
Tim Taylor, Director of Business Space at Atisreal says “Wilmslow Road presents a fantastic commercial opportunity that we believe Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative will be able to take full advantage of and expose its maximum potential. In addition to its strategic location on a main arterial route running through the city, a large proportion of their targeted market live less then a stones throw away.”
According to Craig Mellor, Opal’s Funding and Investment Manager, “Atisreal have impressed us with their tenacious and diligent approach to assisting us in our investment and development programme, as well as their innovative ideas for dealing with our surplus commercial properties.”
The Edinburgh Bicycle Company was advised by specialist retail consultants Francis & Company.
